A detailed guide to buying diamond jewelry
What is Diamond?
Diamonds are the result of the crystallization of carbon under extremely high pressure and temperature, deep in the Earth's crust. This leads to the creation of a strong, transparent crystal lattice, which gives them exceptional hardness and brilliance. They are mined through complex and risky methods, and the labor and monopolization are a large part of their price. Their high price forces people to buy diamonds of particularly low quality and small sizes.
In the 21st century, we have access to the lab-grown diamond - a real diamond (confirmed by an official certificate from GIA or IGI - unlike imitations such as moissanite and zirconium). It is created using technologies that mimic natural formation conditions. It is identical to the properties of mined diamonds, but is more ethical and significantly more affordable. Low prices allow you to get extremely high quality and many times larger sizes of diamonds.
You can buy several pieces of extremely high quality jewelry for the price of one smaller, more yellowish, and with more external and internal flaws. There are different tastes and preferences, the choice is yours - make it informed.
*In the last 2 years, demand for mined diamonds has seen a significant decline - never seen before.
1. Why choose lab-grown diamonds?
- Quality: Lab-grown diamonds are identical to those dug from a mine.
- Affordability: They are offered at a significantly better price, making them more accessible to discerning buyers.
- Ethics: Created without the need to displace up to 250 tons of land mass for 1 carat and serious social conflicts.
- Certified quality: All diamonds from 1 carat and above in our store are accompanied by certificates from independent laboratories such as GIA or IGI, Belgium.
- Tip: Always be informed about the origin of your diamonds - it is possible to get a lab-grown diamond instead of a diamond from a mine, and its price is many times lower.
2. Understanding the '4C's' of Diamonds:
Carat (C arat ):
- It reflects the weight of the diamond.
- Tip: Lab-grown diamonds allow you to choose a larger stone within the same budget.
- When a diamond is larger, it becomes significantly more expensive. Often, stores only list the total weight of the diamonds in a piece of jewelry when there is more than one, to give the impression of a higher value. The difference in the total price of 10 0.1 carat diamonds and the price of a 1 carat diamond is significant. Large diamonds are much more expensive because they are rarer and more valuable.
Color :
- Diamonds come in a wide range of colors, graded from D to Z.
- Tip: Choose G or H for a balance between price and colorless appearance.
Clarity at 10x magnification:
- Lab-grown diamonds are usually purer because of the controlled environment in which they are grown, making them visually perfect even at a lower price.
Grinding (C ut ):
- Priority: Good cut is the key to a diamond's brilliance.
3. Choice of metal:
- Silver: Affordable, modern and lightweight, suitable for everyday jewelry.
- Gold: Available in yellow and white – classic and durable.
- Platinum: A luxurious choice with a natural white color.
4. Certificates and quality:
- Every diamond in our store weighing 1 carat and above is accompanied by a certificate issued by the prestigious, globally recognized IGI, Belgium, which attests to its characteristics.
- Why it's important: The certificate guarantees peace of mind that you are receiving transparency and quality.
5. A design for every look:
- Solitaire: A classic design that emphasizes a single beautiful diamond.
- Halo: Adds more shine and is suitable for larger rings.
- Modern styles: Geometric shapes or minimalist elements for modern clients.
6. What makes your jewelry special?
- Lab-grown diamonds combine modern technology, an innovative approach, and responsibility to create beauty that fits your budget and values.
